There is a truth in this spiritual law that goes unmentioned. I believe it to be what God intended for us to understand from this law. The majority of people make sense of the simple truth of something coming back to us as a result of an action of our own. It is most often brought to attention concerning money. I want to offer what I believe to be Insight to Incite™. I pray that this article will provoke you to think.
First, I want to say that I believe the law of sowing and reaping to be indisputable. Every Christian denomination I know of embraces this truth in one way or another. This law is reflected in nature and by it humanity sustains itself. Unbelievers understand sowing and reaping and every farmer counts on it working.
I travel to and minister in a lot in poor areas of the world. The attitude is usually the same every where I go — “We are poor, so you are to give to us.” Whether they are poor or not, this attitude can completely cripple a church in many ways. I would call this a poverty mentality.
The poverty mentality usually goes unrecognized by those taken by it. They are in fact poor and that fact convinces them that they should be given to and that they are exempt from giving. I have seen entire churches stuck in this mentality. There is very little that can be done for a group of people in this state of mind — unless they are willing to change their thinking. Usually, the pastor has reinforced this mentality as he is poor himself.
Yes, we are to help the poor. Jesus gave to the poor regularly. Apparently it was common for Jesus to instruct Judas to give to the poor.
Americans are being trained to get their way in every aspect of life. I believe this is a strategy of demonic forces to destroy our country - and the church. Jesus said about the church that “the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” - so the church must be destroyed from within by its’ own members. America’s problems are also from within, and from infiltration.
At present, there are a large number of “reality” TV shows where the final winners are determined by the vote of Americans. Most of the shows have a panel of judges that judge the performances up to a point, and then the votes of the American people are used to determine the final top ten, and then the winner. It seems that America cannot get enough of this type of input. The problem is that the American people are not qualified judges. They just vote for what they like and want. Many times, the voted winner does not even attain a prolific career while the losers many times do. Proof that the will of the majority is not necessarily right.
There is a time to find out why money doesn’t come rather than seeking a new method to employ to get more money.
Many pastors keep their people poor. They do not keep people poor on purpose, but it is predominant in many cultures of the world. It’s the product of a severe lack of understanding and blindness facilitated by a religious spirit.
I have seen this problem the most in predominantly Catholic countries, as well as in countries that are either communist or formerly communist. Catholic priests take a vow of poverty though it is not Biblical. Communist consider everyone on the same level. Both of these types of thinking are in the culture of the people and both lower the minister to a common status. While the minister is human, that minister is also called and sent by the Lord Jesus Himself. How you treat the sent minister is how you are treating the Lord (Matthew 10:40).
If you are living the best Christian life that you know how to live, and purposefully growing in God, and looking for His second coming, then you are living by faith.
Three times in the New Testament, the writer quotes an Old Testament scripture concerning living by faith.
(Habakkuk 2:4 ESV) “Behold, his soul is puffed up; it is not upright within him, but the righteous shall live by his faith.”
When interpreting the Bible, context must be understood in order to interpret accurately. In Habakkuk, the above scripture was something God was telling the prophet as part of a personal instruction. Habakkuk lived in a time when Israel was not living for God and he was surrounded with injustice. Prior to this verse, God tells Habakkuk that He is going to bring judgement. God had used Assyria to punish Israel and He would now use Babylon (Chaldeans) to punish Assyria and Judah. The prophet had a hard time receiving this information.
(Romans 8:15–17 ESV) “For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.”
As the children of God we have an inheritance. The fullness of our inheritance will be realized at a future date. That inheritance is the consummation of the plan of God, being fully adopted with redeemed bodies living in a New Jerusalem in a New Heaven and New earth. Paul tells us that until then we have to patiently wait for it.
The Bible defines integrity as “moral innocence.” The dictionary defines it as “the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles.” Neither definition reveals the standard to which integrity is measured. However, we know that God’s Word is the moral standard and every human will be judged according to the Word of God. God is right in everything. Humans, however, vary greatly in their understanding, and therefore in their integrity and morals - including believers.
(Proverbs 11:3 KJV) “The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.”
There is only one truth.
(John 14:6 AMP) “Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me.”
Jesus Christ IS the Truth and there is only one of Him. He is also the Word of God. Both the Truth and the Word are a person: not a philosophy, an intelligence, a concept or an idea. Jesus Christ is not divided into factions either. If there are opposing opinions of the meaning of the Word of God, then either one or both of them are wrong.
All giving is sowing, but not all sowing is giving. The distinction between the two is critical, and always discerned by the eye of God. God is looking for, and blesses, givers. What God looks at is the motive in the action.
A giver is a person who’s heart is in his giving. Paul said it this way:
Human understanding is highly subjective to many variables. A person’s view of something can be extremely different from another person’s even though two people are considering the same thing. A dictionary definition of “understanding” is: an individual’s perception or judgment of a situation. By definition, with humans, there is not one understanding.
Communication is an attempt to transfer your understanding to another person. We use adjectives to describe something in ways that we believe will relate what we mean to another person. Yet, even our understanding of the adjectives we use are different from each other.
Not long ago, a proven prophet of the Lord said that satan’s attacks were going to come against the second tier of leadership in the church. Without fail, every pastor I know has experienced this to be true at some point in their ministry. However, the outcome does not have to be what it often is. After all, it is an attack, and attacks can be beaten.Years ago I heard a seasoned minister say, “It seems that those that I have spent the most time with are the ones that have turned on me.” That is an odd phenomenon and one that can be avoided because it is fueled by familiarity. If the leaders stay out of familiarity, the door is closed to the devil, end of story.
Oxfam International released a report stating that “The 85 Richest People In The World Have As Much Wealth As The 3.5 Billion Poorest.” That means that half of the world’s wealth is owned by one percent of the population.
There are people who understand the world system and they work it with great skill. As a matter of fact, the richest people in the world have continued to grow their wealth yearly in a study covering the years from 1980 and 2012. The rich are getting richer.
Strongholds are some of the of the biggest hindrances in a human’s life. Through culture and tradition, they can destroy entire people groups. They keep people out of the will of God and away from His blessings. They can keep people in darkness all of their lives.
What is a stronghold?
A stronghold is a predominant train of thought reinforced with reasonings and opinions that are contrary to the Word of God. Strongholds are thoughts, not spirits.
I get flooded with church growth material in the mail, and in emails. I also get a tremendous amount of invitations to participate in “church fundraising” seminars. If you are in ministry, you know what I am talking about. While many methods may produce, doing things the Bible way will produce solid Bible results.
Perspective on growth.
Church growth is always understood in light of what the culture says is growth. In America, growth and success are usually measured by quantity and profit - the same ways the business world judges itself. In America, the largest churches in existence have many thousands of members and a tremendous amount of wealth as a result. They are considered successful yet, those same ministries don’t Biblically make disciples.
